Wonderful Train Preschool Activities

Let's check out some wonderful Train Preschool Activities here!

Chuga chuga chuga chuga, woo-woo! This sound brings smiles and joy to many children near and far. Preschoolers can be fascinated with the locomotives and the cars as they travel the tracks.

They try to get the engineer to blow the horn.

Let them continue with their joy and fascination in the classroom with these train preschool activities. train preschool activities

My Train-

Give each child a box and help them design a train. Provide them with tape, glue, markers, crayons, and paint.

Whatever works best for your space so that they can decorate the boxes to become trains.

Train Whistle-

Take a toilet paper tube and decorate with paints. Punch a hole about a half-inch down from the top of the tube.

Secure a piece of wax paper over one end with a rubber band. Woo-woo!

Classroom Train Ride-

Line the chairs up in the room to create a train. Put numbers on the chairs and distribute tickets to your kids.

You, as engineer, can put on an apron and take their tickets and punch and return them.

Feel free to add props to your train themed preschool activities.

Train Snacks-

Club crackers can be used for cars, Cheerios for wheels and other food for cargo.

Songs-

Do sing-alongs such as "Down by the Station" or "Little Red Caboose".

Train Ride Field Trip-

Check your local transportation and see if there is a train ride you can take the kids on as part of your Train Preschool Activities.

Read Stories-

Books such as "The Little Engine That Could" or any number of books on trains would be a great choice.

Printables-

Have the kids color printouts of trains, boxcars, locomotives or the train engineers. Click Here for a Toy Train print out.

Egg Carton Trains-

Give each preschooler a 6-cup section of a cardboard egg carton and paint the front one red and one black.

Place these two together for the smokestack and engine. Paint the rest any color and decorate as the kids see fit. You can use buttons or felt for the wheels.

Field Trip to a Train Museum-

Oh, this would be so very much fun for the tikes! One of the oldest modes of transportation, the train holds even the adult captive.

Where has it been, where is it going? What are in the cars? All of these questions to answer as the trains whiz on by.

The preschoolers will enjoy these Train Preschool Activities and more.
