How about some Preschool Nutrition Activities? Staying healthy is important for everyone, including children. It's not a bad idea at all to get started at an early age learning the proper nutrition for your body. Even though you have a room full of preschoolers, you should be able to get the word through to them easily and on their level. Here are a few ideas to get you started on your very own Preschool Nutrition Activities.
Fieldtrip -
A fieldtrip to a farm or dairy could come with lot's of awesome food preschool activities. Perhaps you have other types
of food manufacturers in your area. The kids can learn how the food is grown, processed and how nutritional it is for them.
Vegetable Basket Craft - Vegetable Basket Crafts can add a more hands-on experience for your preschoolers. Simply print a template of a basket and different vegetables (all available online through many resources for free). You can have the kids paint or color each vegetable while you teach them what each is for (example: carrots are good for the eyes).
Yummy Food - Eating the alphabet is a great game on nutritional preschool activities for the kids! Have something from as many food groups as possible that start with a different letter of the alphabet and have the kids eat letters A-Z!
Coloring Pages - Coloring pages are abundant for different items in each of the fruit, vegetable, meat or dairy product lists. And its a great way to introduce preschool nutrition activities to the kids. Click Here for some FREE food coloring pages
Dairy Basket - Dairy baskets are an alternative to the vegetable basket. You can use templates again or perhaps let the kids loose on some old magazines and let them find different dairy products to put into their baskets. Great nutrition preschool activities!
Seed Butter -
Make your own nut or seed butter as a snack. You will need:
1 cup nuts or seeds, Mix it all together in a processor until spreading consistency. While making and serving, inform the children about the nutritional value of each item in the recipe.
Garden Mural - You can never fail with a mural as part of your preschool nutrition activities. An indoor garden mural can consist of whatever you decide. Have the kids color, cut, draw, or paint the items for your bulletin board garden. This activity is designed to teach how things grow, flourish and feed the planet.
Food Circle Game - Name a food circle is another active game. First name a food group and the kids can start naming as many things as they can think of in that particular group. You can break the kids into different teams if you like. This got to be one of your coolest preschool activities on nutrition.
Yogurt -
Flavored yogurt can be created for the kids as a healthy and nutritional snack. Start with plain yogurt,
add fruits and natural sweeteners. Heck, throw some food color in if you want!
Food Print - Food prints is a fantastic art activity! Have different textured foods handy along with different colored paints. Each food can go into a different colored paint and have the kids create a picture of their choice with the textures and colors.
It's important for preschoolers to understand, especially in countries where childhood obesity is too abundant.
