The Coolest Preschool Games

Looking for some preschool games ideas?

I'm sure you know that kids, by nature, are not ones that can sit around and do absolutely nothing. Unless you can some how turn it into a game! :) Preschoolers find almost everything fascinating.

And you know what? Preschool games also can be used as preschool activities for emotional development.

Games can also help the kids to understand simple values like obeying rules, cooperation, team spirit , etc

Preschoolers’ imaginations are limitless. Anything you find in your home or school can probably be turned into a game.

Give it a try!

Preschool games can last anywhere from five minutes to thirty minutes or more so that the whole gang can enjoy!

Some of the most old-fashioned games are still around and its passed down from one generation to another.

Its a pity though that kid's don't spend as much time outdoors as it used to be , a lot of kids nowadays are hooked to computer games than the real life preschool games. Always try to look for preschool activities and games that engages both their body and mind.

Anyway , here is a list of effective preschool activities and games for preschoolers that we love. They can quickly become your favourite too!

TREASURE HUNT -

This game can be done indoors or outdoors.

Simply take a few objects and hide them around the yard, in a sandbox, or around the classroom or home.

Have the kids try to find them by either giving them clues or drawing a map to where the treasure is located.

C’mon! Make Johnny Depp proud and have some fun with the young ‘uns!

This could last quite awhile if you wanted it to.

SCAVENGER HUNT -

Check out this cool website for great scavenger hunt for kids. They have lots of scavenging ideas for indoor, outdoor and while on a car trip!

RED LIGHT / GREEN LIGHT -

This is a tried and true game that goes back generations.

Have the preschoolers stand oh, twenty-five or fifty feet away from the teacher or “caller”.

Every time “green light” is called out, the children move forward.

Every time “red light” is called out, the children need to stop.

If there is a kid or two still moving after “red light” is called, they are out of the game.

This is a real fun game!

Simple Puzzles -

How about getting a personalized jigsaw puzzle ? Lots of mental power excercise here!

ANIMAL CHARADES -

Ok, really, how can you possibly go wrong with a game of charades?

Animals are one of the best themes to act out.

It can be so much fun to watch the kids try to be something as simple as a lion or dog and then try their best at something extravagant like a unicorn.

Hey! I never said you couldn’t use animals from folklore, now did I? Great kindergarten game idea as well...

BOXES -

There are so very many things you can do with empty boxes!

You can build a store, and play shopping games.

How about a fort?

Teach the kids about the cowboys and Indians.

Maybe a train…then you could pretend to go places far and wide while teaching them world geography.

Cars... yeah, cars are good.

They could pretend to drive through town while teaching them the rules of the road, or maybe have an Indy car race.

HOT POTATO -

This game is definitely for the outdoors.

Decide on one child who will be “It” and place him or her in the middle of a circle of their classmates.

Give a kickball to “It” and have him or her try to kick the ball (gently, don’t hurt anyone!) out of the circle.

The kids in the circle try to keep the ball (hot potato) inside the oven (circle).

When “It” finally gets the hot potato out of the oven, a new person is named “It”.
