Paul Bunyan Preschool Activities

Why Paul Bunyan Preschool Activities? Well, Paul Bunyan's story is all about tall tale with lots of exaggerated elements. As a preschooler, what could be a better activity? :)
Story Time - Preschool children love to listen to, tell and create stories. You should start by telling the children a couple of Paul Bunyan tall tales. After reading the stories you can have the children create their own tall tales. It's also a fun option to put the kids in groups and have each group work together to come up with a Paul Bunyan story.
Coloring Activities - Coloring just about anything is always popular with preschoolers. You can find a great variety of Paul Bunyan coloring pages online that you can print out for the kids. All you'll need is printer paper and crayons.
Paul Bunyan preschool activities and Puzzles - Create a Paul Bunyan puzzle with the kids. All you need to do is have them color a Paul Bunyan themed picture then cut it into puzzle pieces. Then have them mix them up and put them back together again.
Paul Bunyan Cross Word Search - Print out some Paul Bunyan word search and crossword puzzle games online. These are available for younger children and are great learning tools. You could even make the cross word paper extra large!
Cupcakes! -
Baby Blue Ox Puppet -
Have the children glue the head to the bottom side of the paper bag and the body of the ox in the middle. You can then have your preschoolers use their new puppets to reenact the Paul Bunyan story. Flapjacks - A great activity for at home or at school is Paul Bunyan's Flapjacks. You will need:
Once lightly brown remove and serve with butter, syrup or whatever you want. If you're going to be having them at school you can cook them ahead of time at then microwave later.
Outdoors -
Bookmarks - Have the kids make some Paul Bunyan bookmarks. You can find printouts online or design your own with some sturdy craft paper. If you're not using a printout from online, create a bookmark template and lay it on the construction paper and cut out. Have the preschoolers decorate the bookmarks with Paul Bunyan drawings.
Drawing Session -
Ask them questions like "How did Paul Bunyan's Ox help him?" "Who was his friend (besides the Ox) in the story?" and "How do you feel about Paul Bunyan cutting down so many trees?" This activity is a great way to stimulate the learning process.
