|||||||||||||
Welcome to Mother's Day Preschool Activities! Mother's Day usually occurs on the second Sunday in May and is a day set aside for children to honor their mothers for all that they have done for them. All the Moms Day activities can be classified into crafts, worksheets, special things to do, reading and many other categories.
Coloring Activities - One of the more prominent Mother's Day preschool activities is coloring pages and worksheets. This gives the kids a chance to have fun with their crayons, colored pencils or markers as they allow their own personal creativity guide them. Printable worksheets can include puzzles, word finds, or "mother" acrostic poetry. Coloring pages can feature thematic pictures that include a child loving a mother, boy with flowers, mom and baby animals, mom gardening or mom and daughter baking something in the kitchen.
Story Time -
For instance: Are You My Mother? Mama, Coming and Going
Baking for Mom - Boys and girls alike have the tendency to love baking, especially cookies, with the mom's. You can try this wonderful activity with supervision. Perhaps some "muffins for mom preschool activities" ? Or maybe dad can help the kids make breakfast in bed for mom for Mother's Day. If you plan ahead just right you could even have the little ones help make mom's favorite dinner for her.
Word Games - Alphabetical Order sheets are available as another set of Mother's Day preschool activities. You can put together a list of general words surrounding the holiday. You could also stem out and put together word lists of things the children can do with mom or maybe jobs that moms do.
Scrapbook for Mom -
With this kit the children can make a few pages (or so) book for mom by perhaps handwriting messages to mom (i.e. "I love you!", etc.) and include some pictures they have drawn on the pages as well. If they have any favorite photos to glue inside, this is another great addition. They can even write a caption underneath them. This is also be one of the most fun preschool activities for stay home mom.
Handpainted Pots -
These could be simple little buckets or any type of container would actually do. Place out some fingerpaints, crayons or markers and let the kids go wild in decorating the containers.
Flowers for Mom -
The easiest would be to use paper plates and have the kids draw on their own or paste flower templates around the edge for the wreathe. Another way would be to use a Styrofoam ring and poke some pipecleaner flowers into the ring for the wreathe.
Photo Frames -
Have some chipboard handy that the kids can decorate for either choice. With the memo board cut the chipboard (or similar) a little larger than a memo pad. Have the kids decorate the board, then glue the memo pad to the middle. With the photo frames use something similar and a little heavier if desired and cut it a little larger than the photo. Once decorated, glue the photo to the board.
Heart Crafts - Hearts show love and kindness. With this Mother's Day preschool activity moms will burst with even more love. Provide a foam heart to each child along with squares of different colored tissue paper. Have the children twist the squares and glue them on to the foam art in their own design for a gift to mom. How about a beating heart? See the video below:
Hand Print Greeting Card -
Trace the children's hand on foam or paper (with fingers closed or opened) for a bloom. Paste this on top of a drawn stem on white paper that they can fold in half and turn into a card for Mother's Day.
There are a whole slew of other Mother's Day preschool activities of which of which to choose from. This small token should be able to give you a starting point that you can spring off from and create away! Just remember: moms absolutely love to have handmade items and the more personality of the children that can shine through on the project the better. If you gonna try the activities together with the siblings, do try to include preschool activities that teach cooperating as well. Have a great Mother's Day everyone!
