As the preschoolers learn their numbers take the opportunity to teach them the French translation as well. You could take this a step further and translate the rhyme "One, Two Buckle My Shoe" into French.

Basic Phrases -

Basic phrases can be taught such as hello, good-bye, thank you, yes and no. Sentences can be learned by the kids including "how are you?" and "how old are you?".

Cooking -

Well, in this activity you may need to explain why french fries aren't really French. After you've done that, simple recipes can be put together in the classroom.

If you don't think the kids are up to it, then prepare food prior to class time and serve it to the children buffet style. This also opens up a window to teach them about the French culture.

Songs -

This is a time where you can go beyond "Frére Jacques". Find some music by French composers that you know the kids will love and play it for them. Let them express their joy through song and dance.

Translate well-known songs into French for them as an alternative. At graduation have the kids offer some of the songs they have learned. Traditional songs to try include "Au Claire de la Lune" and "A la Claire Fontaine".

Holidays -

Plan some lessons around holidays celebrated in France. This is also a prime time to bring in the flag of the nation. Try to look at some preschool activities in french language as a guidance.

Picture Books -

A picture dictionary can be put together with the French and English directly next to each other. Other books include "Animaux et nombres" which is about animals and numbers and "Je m'appelle..." which is an activity book to teach common phrases, numbers, colors and so on.

Social Studies -

This subheading can include making maps and flags from France as well as teaching them about the money used within the country. Don't miss out on lessons surrounding world-renowned landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower or The Louvre.

You can combine the landmark lessons with crafts for the preschoolers to build their own Tower or teach them about French artists when discussing the museum.
