Fine motor skills will aid your preschooler in the development of dexterity, hand and eye coordination and the ability to use tools such as pencils and scissors.


This is an important stage in their development, and you will want them to have fun while they learn.

Block Building -

Build a school/house/car/train or simply anything out of blocks or LegosĀ®.




Putty Treasure Hunt -

Use some Theraputty and stretch it out to hide coins and tiny objects inside it.


Mush the putty into a ball and have the kids pull it back apart to find the objects. Make sure you have a list of what you hid!




Puzzles -

Jigsaw puzzles exercise much in your child's development.




Tying Shoes -

This can be tricky for some kids. Sometimes it's a lost art when there are no shoestrings on the child's shoes!




Collage or Balls -

Have the kids rip up different papers into tiny strips for them to make a collage out of or crumple into balls. This is one of those easy preschool activities to get lots of giggles!




Pin The Tail On the Donkey -

Tried and true, this game actually teaches motor skills!

Relay Race -

Have the kids run, hop, and wheelbarrow walk, crab walk, etc. as they rest to see who is the winner! Preschool activities on fine motor can be really fun too!




Weather Cut and Paste -

The kids can learn to handle a pencil, as well as count with this exercise.


To spice it up, have the dot-to-dots use the alphabet rather than a number system to teach their ABCs.

It is important for the little tikes to master simple skills like how to tie shoelaces, how to count, their alphabet, how to use pencils, scissors, glue and crayons.
