Let's check out some Animal Preschool Activities... One of the fastest ways to get a smile out of a preschooler is to show them a playful little puppy, cute kittens; really - any kind of baby animal will thrill them! Animals fascinate them to no end! There are scores of activities centered around the animal theme for preschools to perform or carry out. You can also plan you animal preschool activities depending on your country and locations with the following themes:
Here is a small sampling to start with:
Lamb Paper Craft -
Print out a template of a lamb, cut the lamb shape out and glue it to construction paper. Put some dabs of glue on the shape and glue cotton balls to form a soft cuddly lamb. Black ovals and circles can be cut out and glued on for the ears and eyes.
Ladybug Egg Carton Craft -
Cut the egg carton's cups into single cups. Paint the cups with white acrylic paint (let the adults do this part) and let dry. Next, the kids can help paint them red with tempera or poster paint. Don't forget to draw on a head, a stripe down the middle and some dots.
Ladybug Counting Game - Make ladybugs with different numbers of dots on the back and hand them out. Have the children tell you how many spots the ladybugs have. Once the kids know the numbers, have them add the spots together on more than one ladybug. Subtraction is an option as well. Simple animal preschool activities.
Turkey Handprints -
This is something most every child in the U.S. has done at least once. Have the kids trace their hands with fingers extended. Use crayons, paints, glitter, etc. to draw and decorate the turkeys.
Mexican Bird Rattle - Cover one end of an empty toilet paper roll with masking tape and insert a popsicle stick inside the other end and tape it on firmly. Put some small rocks, beans, or unpopped popcorn inside the toilet paper roll and cover the end with masking tape.
Paper Mache the toilet paper roll and let the kids paint birds when dry. Orange construction paper may be used for the beaks.
Easter Bunny Craft - Take some paper bags or small gift bags with handles and have the kids draw eyes, nose, and mouth on the outside for the bunny rabbit. Cut out ears from templates, let the kids color these, and glue them onto the bag. The kids now have something to collect their Easter eggs in.
Lion Paper Plate Craft -
Paint paper plates yellow or glue yellow construction paper or tissue paper onto them. For the mane, you can swirl yellow, brown, and orange paint in a plate and have the kids fingerpaint the mane onto the lion plates. Cut out eyes, nose, mouth, and ears from templates or construction paper and glue on.
Trip to the Zoo - What more can you do for an animal themed activity? Perhaps the kids can have some nocturnal animal preschool activities as well. Have fun!
Nursery Rhymes - Kids love these things! Try, for instance, Baa, Baa, Blacksheep, Hey Diddle Diddle, Hickory Dickory Dock, Little Bo Beep, or Little Miss Muffet.
Songs - They love to sing, too! Try for instance, Bingo, Mary Had A Little Lamb, or Farmer In The Dell.
Don't be shy; be creative with your supplies. Your animal preschool activities will be a hit. Enjoy! Check out these animal preschool crafts for more great ideas!
