All About Me Preschool Activities

Let's check out some simple All About Me Preschool Activities here.

We all know that young kids are curious about almost everything. While the first choice is to play, you will notice that while they are out on the ball field not only are they playing the game, but they are taking in their surroundings. Oh look! The ladybug crawling over the grass, the birds and clouds in the sky etc...

These All About Me preschool activities will help quench their thirst for knowledge about themselves.

Just be creative and have lot's of fun in these free toddler and preschool activities.

Ok, shall we start?

Body Parts -

The alphabet is our friend in very many ways. In the case of all about me activities, you can use coloring pages with images of (N)ose, (E)ye, (H)ead, (H)and, and so on so the preschoolers can learn about the different parts of their body.

You can also use some of the same sheets to teach them the five senses.

Emotions -

Emotions can go hand in hand with the five senses and there are a multitude of preschool activities for such an occasion. Easy Shape Clowns can be made by printing clown templates, color or black and white, for the kids to create with and many fun games can be played.

You can turn the clown faces into color-by-numbers and create different faces for happy, sad, and angry and so on.

Another option would be to cut different shapes the kids can glue onto the clown shapes to create their own clowns or you can have them color them as they see fit. If you don't feel like printing clown shapes, you can do a day of face painting instead.

Personal Preferences -

One way to a child's heart is through his stomach. Cooking activities can allow the preschoolers to make their own brand of trail mix, mixing in their favorite ingredients. Alternatively, you can make Me Crackers by providing each child with a large round cracker and by using the squeeze cheese, M&Ms and licorice for faces.

The Unique Me -

Collages and portraits are a fantastic way to get the preschoolers learning about themselves as they see the different sizes and shapes and how each person is unique.

You can always go with the tried and true shadow silhouettes or do one better and have the children layout and butcher paper while another traces their body.

The kids can then go ahead and color themselves into the outline silhouette as a self portrait.

Favorite thing collages can give the children a chance to share themselves with their classmates allowing them to grow as friends and as a community.

You also have the option of cutting out certain body parts from their self portrait to give a lesson in anatomy.

A handprint collage can be done in any format, including randomly placed or a rainbow, by using fingerpaints to paint their hands for the handprint.

The wee ones will learn individuality and uniqueness. preschool activities

My Family -

When doing self portraits and the types of collages mentioned, a natural next step would be to teach some all about me family themed lessons. Preschoolers love to draw and color so take advantage of this and have them put together some house and landscape pictures.

Have them share what their home and yard look like and, if desired, hang them all on a wall for parent day so the moms and dads can enjoy what the kids are learning too.

Get the families themselves involved in teaching the children about family - send a note home about a week prior to "show and tell" for a poster collage of pictures of the family, what they do, their home.

Have the kids present the posters, one a day, and be ready to take questions and offer answers from anyone in the class that might have some.

When covering homes of the children, you may also plan a day teaching them about what homes look like elsewhere. You can find these online or through multiple magazines that cover the world such as National Geographic.

The little ones will then have the opportunity of learning about other cultures as well as their own in these All About Me Preschool Activities.

Personal Hygiene -

Hygiene is very important, teach the children the proper steps of simple hygiene like hand washing and brushing their teeth. Make up some silly songs and dance steps to accompany the All About Me Preschool Activities.

Useful All About Me Books -

There is a multitude of books that teach all about me to preschoolers. Some of the stories that earn the best reviews from parents and teachers include:

What I Like About Me - Teacher Edition: A Book Celebrating Differences by Allia Zobel Nolan;
Marvelous Me: Inside and Out (Bullard, Lisa. All About Me.) by Lisa Bullard and
I'm Gonna Like Me: Letting Off a Little Self-Esteem by Jamie Lee Curtis.

All about me preschool activities encompass a wide range of ideas. Make you own ideas fun and exciting and you can't miss with the wee ones!
